how do people use rasberry pi and how can someone benefit from it?

People can use it to post silly questions online :)
Jokes aside, its just a computer so you can use it for lots of things. I've used mine as a retro-gaming console, ad-blocker and media center

mostly used for iot projects. it is just a small computer actually.

Some people can use it to host websites, do a broadcast signal intrusion, and create proxy servers, the possibilities are near endless.

its just a low power, arm based computer. you can use it the same as any other low power arm based computer

I use raspberry pi as adblocker. I have some ideas to deploy firewall/IDS also because dedicated devices are expensive.
